Stefanos Zenios is the Investment Group of Santa Barbara Professor of Entrepreneurship and Professor of Operations, Information, and Technology. He is also the faculty codirector of Stanford GSB’s Center for Entrepreneurial Studies. Course Facilitators are industry and academic mentors who help you apply and validate design thinking concepts while working on a real-world innovation challenge. They are from diverse backgrounds and hold several years of experience practicing, implementing, and consulting with organizations on the design thinking methodology and practice.

Participants have several opportunities to engage in peer-to-peer learning and networking-
- - Every participant is assigned a buddy and grouped into a team for brainstorming sessions.
- - Participants also attend the group discussion with their Course Facilitators in groups of 25, where they are provided with an opportunity to understand how different participants are applying the design thinking methodology to their respective innovation challenges.
- - Outside of the course work, there are exclusive 'social hours' organized every week for the peers to interact with one another across the globe. These social hours are fun, engaging, and interactive sessions, where participants get to meet other participants outside of the 'classroom setting'.
An Innovation Challenge is a design thinking problem statement that participants are mandated to select as part of their coursework. The design thinking innovation challenge is a real-world project of their own desired domain and field. The participants learn to apply design thinking concepts to this real-world problem statement and work towards developing a solution using the design thinking methodology.
An average weekly commitment of six to eight hours is recommended. The hours will be spent on video lectures, group discussions, assignments, and peer engagement. Participants will spend a large portion of their weekly commitment on applying design thinking frameworks and principles to their chosen innovation challenge. The time commitment is subjective, participants do end up spending more time on their research and in the innovation challenge.
There will be 8 group discussions of 45 minutes each with Course Facilitators.
Once you start your application, you will be assigned a Program Advisor. Their role is to help you understand how the course can work for you, review your fitment, and clarify any questions you may have about the course. The Program Advisor will be your point of contact to guide you throughout your enrollment process and make sure you are successfully placed in the cohort.
